How can I help?

Do you feel as if things have just become too much for you to deal with and that you’re finding yourself going around in circles, feeling lost and confused?

Is it time for you to talk with a professional about events in your past which you feel may now be affecting your present life?

Perhaps it’s about improving your communication skills with certain individuals in your life or looking towards improving your career prospects.

Grief, Loss and Bereavement

Grief is a natural process however we can get stuck at a certain point of the grieving process and this is where counselling may be of benefit.

During counselling, I offer you the opportunity to be listened to in a safe and confidential space, where you can be heard in confidence with empathy and acceptance.

Common reactions to the death or loss of a loved one can include anxiety, loss of appetite or irritability.

Losing a pet

Grief over the loss of a pet is perfectly normal however as in grief over the loss of a human its impact is entirely individual. Some people may find it easier to go and buy another pet quite quickly where others decide to have no more pets as they cannot bear to go through the emotional pain suffered through the death of a much-loved pet once again.

A recent study carried out by the charity Harrisons fund found that humans have more empathy for animals than their fellow human beings.

Therapeutic models

The most important aspect of any therapeutic relationship is the connection between client and therapist. Once that is secure, I can choose the best ways of working together, taking into account your own preferences. For example, working with anxiety I may use transactional analysis, or for trauma treatment, the Rewind model or BrainWorking Recursive Treatment (BWRT).

Lifelong learning

As a qualified and professional counsellor, I regularly attend continuing professional development training which helps keep me up to date and informed of the latest information available on helping individuals with mental health issues.

I have experience working in the NHS, with young people and with a range of individuals presenting with various different issues.

I also write and lecture on pet bereavement.

Enhancing relationships

In basic terms, Transactional Analysis looks at the way we transact with others whether verbally, or behaviorally.

It also helps us to understand our interactions, communications and relationships with others. Working collaboratively we identify negative patterns which have developed over time and explore different ways of making positive changes to improve communication in daily life.

“I can provide you the space and opportunity for personal growth and self-development”
